Los Angeles is one of the most legendary tourist destinations in the U.S. As the second largest city in the U.S. after New York and having the largest population, it is the embodiment of the American dream. Of course, when you think of Los Angeles, the first thing that comes to mind is Hollywood and the entertainment industry, so you’ll definitely want to explore Hollywood where you can find the Hollywood walk of fame and the Chinese theater, Paramount Pictures and the Hollywood Bowl. Another iconic neighborhood that’s worth a visit is, of course, Beverly Hills with its famous chic shopping street, Rodeo Drive, which features many luxurious fashion stores. L.A. is also home to some of southern California’s best beaches such as Malibu, Santa Monica or Venice beach, so don’t forget to pack your beach wear in your suitcase. When planning your trip to L.A., you need to choose your accommodations according to what you want to get from your trip. If this is going to be your first visit, Hollywood is a good option especially if you want to do a lot of sightseeing and have an easy access to all the famous sights. Another excellent choice is Santa Monica beach which features a pier, amusement park, shops and restaurants. This beach is the place where Route 66 ends and a long walking and biking path will take you to Venice beach. If you’re into the night scene, you might want to consider West Hollywood which has lots of bars, nightclubs and music venues. Like any big city, there are areas in L.A. that you should avoid for safety reasons. Two such areas are Skid Row and South Central located in downtown L.A.
