Flying, it’s child’s play!
French bee takes great care of your little ones! Babies, kids or teens, they all have their place on our planes. To be sure that their trip goes smoothly, there are just a few things you should know and prepare for. Your turn to play !
Traveling by airplane with minor passengers
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult of at least 18 years of age (with the exception of the child’s mother, father or legal guardian) who must travel in the same cabin class.
If the child cannot be accompanied, we’re happy to offer an assistance on all flights operated by French bee:
- UMNR service: for minors aged between 4 and 11 years old
- UMZZ service: for minors aged between 12 and 17 years old
Travel documents for minors
Please make sure your child has all the necessary documents to travel. There shall be no exceptions to this rule and the passenger will not be permitted to travel if these conditions are not met. The company rejects all liability in where these conditions are not respected.
For minor children traveling with their parents or with a person with parental authority:
- The minor’s valid passport, as well as their family book
For minor children traveling with someone who is not their parent (or a parent with a different surname)
- The minor’s valid passport
- The Authorization to leave the country (AST) signed by one of the child’s parents with legal guardianship (only applicable for France).

Formalities for foreign minors (under 18) on French national territory

French law shall exclusively apply to all persons holding foreign nationality or double citizenship.
The Unaccompanied Minor service is available on all French bee flights except flights from and to Punta Cana.- If traveling with a third party: valid passport.
- If traveling with a parent with a different surname: valid passport.
In every case, it shall be incumbent on parents to supply proof of parentage.
Unaccompanied children
At French bee, we take extra care of our young passengers who are unaccompanied, ensuring they are looked after and that all their needs are met from the moment you entrust them to our care until the moment they come back to you.

About our service

We offer 2 types of service for children traveling alone:
Unaccompanied minors from 4 to 11 years inclusive (UM) - Mandatory Assistance
Children aged between 4 and 11, traveling alone, must be registered as unaccompanied minor (UM). French bee does not offer a gate pass to accompany the unaccompanied minor (UM) to the gate.Unaccompanied minors from 12 to 17 years inclusive (UMZZ) - Optional Assistance
Minors aged between 12 to 17 are not required to be registered as unaccompanied minors. However, if you wish, French bee can provide assistance to help our young guests travel peacefully.A French bee representative will accompany your child from the airport to the aircraft, meet them immediately after they get off the plane, and will take them to the people responsible for picking them up. On board, our crew will be there to make sure the child is safe and comfortable.

How to book

Book online
You can book your child's ticket online for all flights operated by French bee.- For an Unaccompanied Minor aged from 4 to 11 years old (UM), add a "Child" traveler.
- For Unaccompanied Minors aged from 12 to 17 years old inclusive (UMZZ), add a "Teenager traveling alone". You'll be able to select an optional assistance at the services step.

Reserve the ticket of your unaccompanied minor child via our call center:- From the USA : 1-833-376-7158 (toll free number). Opening time : 7am - 10pm (CST time), from monday to saturday.
- From France and Reunion island: 0825 205 205 (0.20€/min). Opening time : 7am - 8pm (UTC +2), from monday to sunday.
Fare
Applicable fare + 50€ or $65 service charge.For an Unaccompanied Minor aged from 4 to 11 (UM) and from 12 to 17 (UMZZ), bookings are eligible for the BASIC PLUS and SMART fares (which include meals).

Good to know
- Reservations for child traveling alone can only be made in Economy class (Basic Plus or Smart) and are subject to a quota. For safety reasons, dedicated seats will be allocated to unaccompanied minors, unfortunately you can't choose for a seat assignment.
- The baggage allowance applicable will be based on the travel class selected. Learn more about fare conditions.
- The child must be in possession of their own identification and their travel documents.
- The child cannot be accompanied by animals in the cabin or in the hold.
- The parent/legal guardian, or an authorized adult must accompany/take the child to the check-in and stay until the flight has departed. Identification will be asked of accompanying adults at both departure and arrival whose details (name, address and telephone) should be included on the reservation.
- French bee does not offer a gate pass to accompany the unaccompanied minor (UM) to the gate.

Before leaving for the airport, make sure your child has all the necessary documents to travel.
1. Your child must carry his/her own national ID card or passport (and visa if applicable) and his/her own flight ticket.
2. Your child must carry a copy of the national ID card or passport of a parent/legal guardian.
3. Download the pick-up UM Service form below and be sure to fill out all fields on the form. One form per child traveling alone must be completed.

Download, complete and print the original CERFA form for Authorisation to Leave the Country (AST) signed by one of the parents with parental authority. This form is mandatory for all French minors or foreign minors residing in France who are traveling outside of France.

For our young passengers traveling on their own, you can't check in online - you'll need to do it at the check-in desks at least 90 minutes before the check-in cut-off time (HLE).
To avoid any last minute stress, we recommend you complete 3 samples of the Unaccompanied Minor service form in advance, before arriving at the airport.
Infants under 2 years of age
Children who have not yet had their second birthday at the start of the trip will be considered as an infant.

Children who have not yet had their second birthday at the start of the trip will be considered as an infant.
If the child reaches his second birthday before the return flight, he/she will be considered as an infant on the outbound flight and child on the return flight.
Travel conditions
- One infant per accompanying adult aged at least 18 (with the exception of the mother, father or legal guardian) on the lap of the accompanying adult or in a bassinet.
- In order to comply with safety regulations, an accompanying adult can only travel with a second infant if this infant is occupying a paid seat provided an approved car seat is installed.
- The infant must be in possession of a travel ticket. The infant is not entitled to a seat.
- The accompanying adult must be allocated a seat during the reservation. This seat must be opposite the (wall-mounted) baby bassinets.
- One infant is permitted per seat block (with the exception of a couple traveling with twins) except at the emergency exits.

The maximum weight and size of an infant permitted in a bassinet is 11kg (24 lbs) and 70cm (27").

Number of infants permitted without a bassinet: 15 -

Reserving a seat for an infant is not available online. We invite you to make your reservation by contacting us.
If you reserve a child ticket for your infant, you should install a car seat to allow your child to travel in comfort and safety in compliance with the following recommendations:
- Be sure to use a car seat that is approved for use on aircraft (please report to the next section)
- Ensure your seat complies with the following dimensions: maximum width 42cm (16")
- Install the seat yourself once you get on board, facing forwards.
- Ensure that the seat can be attached with a seat belt.

Identify a certified car seat for use on aircraft

The child seat must have one of the following certifications:
- Licensed by the relevant authorities of a given EU member state, the FAA (aviation authority in the USA) or Transport Canada (on the basis of a national technical standard) for exclusive use in aircraft.
- Qualified for use in aircraft according to TÜV/958-01/2001
- Licensed pursuant to the UN standard ECE R44-03 or later amendments
- Licensed pursuant to the Canadian standard CMVSS 213/213.1
- Licensed pursuant to the US American standard FMVSS n° 213 with the following text in red:
"THIS CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM CONFORMS TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS" or
"THIS RESTRAINT IS CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT"Example of Icon that must be found as a proof of certification by a civil aviation authority:
If there are no stickers on the car seat or on the Box of the car seatproving the certification by a civil aviation authority on the devices, you must provide a compliance evidence of certification by a civil aviation authority/provider.
If your seat is not approved for use on aircraft it may be refused on board at check-in or boarding.

Baggage, strollers and accessories

Baby strollers :
- A "large" baby stroller is a baby stroller that is above the dimensions of a cabin bag type baby stroller.
- Baby strollers are not accepted for free for children, except if it is a foldable stroller (cabin size) and provided that the child does not have any other cabin bag.
- Car seats or any other childcare accessories are not accepted for free for children, except if the child does not have any other cabin bag. You can only check-in your baby stroller at the airport this option is not available online.
- Baby strollers can be sent directly to the hold at check-in or taken to the boarding gate (except under exceptional circumstances where check-in agents may require you to send them from check-in). Except for cabin size strollers, regular baby strollers must be tagged by a check-in agent, you can't proceed to the boarding gate without doing so.
- French bee does not provide protective bags for your strollers, we strongly recommend wrapping them.
- Baby strollers are always delivered on the Oversize baggage carousel upon your arrival, they are not delivered at the aircraft door or on the jet bridge.
Childcare accessories:
Items such as umbrella beds, car seat, baby stroller that are brought in addition to the allowance described on the above table will be charged at the airport as follow:
- One flight : 35USD / 30€ / .3600 XPF
Two flights: 70 USD (from Paris to Tahiti or from Tahiti to Paris) // 60€ / 7200 XPF
This can't be purchased in advance.
Children between 2-4 years old

Conditions and travel documents

Children between 2 and 4 years of age must be accompanied by their parents (mother, father or legal guardian) or an eligible accompanying passenger.
Eligible accompanying passenger:
- Any passenger over the age of 18 designated to accompany the child by the child’s parent(s).
- If the accompanying passenger does not have parental authority, the parents (mother, father or legal guardian) must exempt the airline of any liability and the accompanying passenger must sign a document accepting care of the child.
Required documents
- A valid national ID or passport is mandatory.
- The child must carry a travel ticket in their possession.

- On our flights: A medical agreement is not required to board the plane for pregnancies below 6 months (28 weeks).
- We recommend that you have a medical certificate between 6 months (28 weeks) and 8 months (36 weeks) of pregnancy. The purpose of the certificate is to indicate your due date and confirm that your pregnancy is free of complications.
- Beyond 8 months (36 weeks), transportation is no longer allowed.
