For all travelersWe remind you that Reunion Island is not part of the Schengen area.
If you are nationals of the European Union and the European Economic Area, no visa is required (regardless of the length of stay).
Otherwise, you must make sure you have checked the formalities (Check if you need a VISA).
The entrance in a French Overseas Department like Reunion Island for the holder of a Schengen visa is only possible if the visa sticker includes the name of the Overseas Department : "Valid for Reunion".
Although the French national identity card is accepted for travel, we advise you to travel with your passport rather than your national identity card so that you can take advantage of the automatic border crossing gates (PARAFE) during arrival formalities at Paris Orly 4. -

Entry requirements to French Polynesia
We remind you that French Polynesia is not part of the Schengen area.
Citizen of European Union countries:
you must have a valid passport, no need of a VISA.
In the event of a stay in French Polynesia linked to the exercise of a paid employment, you must be in possession of a work permit issued by the government of French Polynesia.For citizens outside the European Union:
you must have a passport with an expiry date at least 3 months later than the date on which you plan to leave French Polynesia; this passport must contain at least 2 blank pages and must have been issued less than 10 years ago.

Additional regulatory documents may be requested by the Border Police relating to:- your means of subsistence in French Polynesia (e.g. bank card for international use, cash, etc.)
- your repatriation guarantees (eg: transport ticket to return to your country of origin or residence, travel insurance certificate, etc.)
a boat or plane ticket that shows you'll leave the French Polynesia before the 90 days free VISA period.

Contact information
1- All air passengers to the United States are required to provide contact information before boarding flights to the United States. Please check that your e-mail and phone number are well provided through the Manage my booking section. Without those contacts, the check-in online or at airport kiosks won’t be available.
2- ESTA/VISAElectronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA):
If you are a citizen of Visa Waiver Program (VWP) participating countries , you must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel.
French passports are eligible for ESTA requests.
If you travel with ESTA, you must be in possession of airline (or boat) tickets that prove you will stay in USA for a maximum stay of 90 days.We strongly recommend you to print your ESTA from the official website to make the controls easier and faster at the airport, or at least, make sure to have an internet connection available at the airport the day of departure.
VISA:
If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor (B) visa.
If you have a valid visa you are not required to be in possession of a round-trip or onward ticket. -

From the United States
You must be in possession of all the documents required to enter the Schengen area.
If you have a US passport, remember these important points:- You can stay up to 90 days for tourism or business during a 180-day period. You must wait another 90 days before applying to re-enter the Schengen area. To stay longer than 90 days, you must have a visa.
- A U.S. passport (with applicable visas, if needed), valid for at least 90 days beyond your intended date of departure from the Schengen area.
- Sufficient validity of the passport for each country in the Schengen area you will visit.
- The border police of member countries of the Schengen space may ask you for a justifiable reason for your trip as well as proof of sufficient financial resources.
US Emergency passports are not allowed to travel to France.
From French Polynesia
For all travelers
In order to enter to France mainland, you must be in possession of all the documents necessary for entry into the United States as well as all documents to enter the Schengen area.
Obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) prior to travel or hold a valid visa.

From Reunion Island
When entering France mainland, you must ensure that you comply with all the formalities for entering the Schengen area.
We recommend you to travel with your passport rather than your national identity card so that you can take advantage of the automatic border crossings (PARAFE) when you arrive at Paris Orly 4.
Travel documents
Prior to your departure, please check that you have all the necessary travel documents for your departure country, destination and any stop-over countries.
In addition to your identity card, some countries require a passport, a visa, guardianship papers, health and customs papers, insurance papers, hotel reservations or proof of accommodation arrangements… and various other documents!
Warning: for French Bee flights from mainland France to Tahiti and flights from Tahiti to mainland France, a technical stop-over is made in San Francisco, United States (stop-over country) and you must ensure that you have the necessary travel documents for this country.
Validity period of the documents
You are responsible for checking that your documents and their validity periods comply with the applicable laws and regulations, and applying (if necessary) for new documents. Do not hesitate to contact the relevant consulate, embassy or any other competent authority in order to determine the list of travel documents that you will need.
Warning: some destinations may require that your travel documents remain in-date for several months after the end of your journey.
Please note that for French nationals: since January 1st, 2014, in some circumstances, the validity period of French national identity cards has been extended from 10 to 15 years for adults (over 18 years old) and the validity period of identity cards issued before this date are extended for a further 5 years. This extension does not apply to minors. For more information, we recommend that you check the French ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development website.
Minors
If you are travelling with a minor or your child is travelling alone:
- We recommend that you check the entrance and travel requirements for minors with the embassy or consulate of the arrival country and, if necessary, any stopover country.
- If you are travelling with your child and he/she does not have the same surname as you, please ensure that you have your family booklet or his/her birth certificate with you to prove affiliation.
